GDPR … Finally today is the day you’ve all been waiting for…
Today, 25th May 2018, is the day the European General Data Protection Regulation comes into force.

Your inbox has probably been inundated with all those emails asking you to opt-in to receive those marketing newsletters you’d forgotten all about.
This has been one of the best ways of unsubscribing from the noise that has built up over time in our inboxes, but is everyone really prepared? What impact will this have on all those companies both large and small? Those in your thoughts like GAFA¹ and those that have been busy aggregating your data in the background.
One of the main things to understand about GDPR is that this is not a one-and-done regulation. The processes and procedures you put in place need to be operational. It’s not a fire-and-forget method. Today is just the beginning…
Time will tell how organisations will comply with the regulation, but for now, enjoy a hopefully lighter email inbox, reassured that from today, more should be done to protect your data.
¹ GAFA is an acronym for Google Apple Facebook Amazon. The large American technology companies running our lives.
